The Friends of the Children of Sri Lanka (Sri Lankas Barns Vänners) is a political and religious independent association that has been successful in Sri Lanka since 1980.
The purpose of The Friends of the Children of Sri Lanka is to support vulnerable children and young adults in Sri Lanka with different forms of education and sponsorship to help then influence their lives and thus their future.
The link between education, health and poverty reduction are clear. Good education strengthens people’s self-esteem and health and thus increases their opportunities to improve their lives. The work of the association is non-profit, only a very small part of the funds collected goes to administration.
The association originated in a society formed in 1980 by parents of adoptive children from Sri Lanka. The Friends of the Children of Sri Lanka consists of about 350 members from all over Sweden.
